Parker: Bingo or not, she feels like a winner

Catering queen and local character Sandy Tenenbaum thought it would be a lark to audition for ABC's new game show National Bingo Night when producers came to town looking for talent.

"I did it just to take one more bite out of life," said Tenenbaum who owns Occasions By Sandy with her hubby, Barry. "I don't know why I did it, just stupidity, I guess."

But Tenenbaum and six other Coloradans were chosen out of a pool of 3,000 wannabes in five cities to compete in the show. Tenenbaum's episode airs at 8 p.m. Friday on Denver's 7.

"It was really fun. It was a neat process," she said. "We had to sign like a gag order, so I can't really talk about it."

We'll have to tune in to see if she won big bucks.

"I found out I was picked on my way to Cuba," she said. "They called and said, 'Do you have champagne? You've been picked.' "

Sandy and Barry were flown to Los Angeles by ABC and put up in a hotel for two nights.

"We sat sequestered in a room for two days while they picked people," she said. "I was the last contestant taken for that segment."

Win or lose, Tenenbaum said the experience alone was worth it. "The whole ABC team was just fabulous," she said. "It was fun, it was fun, it was so fun."
